There’s a chill in the air, leaves are crunching underfoot, and pumpkins are popping up on porches—Spooky Season has officially arrived in Westgate! Skeletons are lounging in lawn chairs, giant spiders have taken up residence on rooftops, and Halloween magic is brewing all around the neighborhood.
The Westgate Neighbors Association (WNA) is bringing the fall fun with not one, but two fang-tastic events this October:
Mums and Mummies
️ Sunday, October 12
2:00 – 4:30 PM
Westgate Park Enclosed Shelter House & Grounds
This beloved annual bash, hosted with our friends from Friends of Westgate Park, is back and better than ever! Throw on your best costume (yes, parents too!) and join us for:
- Costume contests
- Spooky games
- Trunk-or-Treating fun
- Lunch for the kiddos
And don’t forget to stop by the Friends of Westgate Park’s Annual Mum Sale—these gorgeous fall blooms go fast, so come early for the best pick! Bonus: There’s also a bake sale, because nothing says fall like a homemade cookie (or three). Proceeds go to support our park’s upkeep and beauty.
Boo on Binns
️ Thursday, October 30
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Crescent Park (aka Binns Island)
On Trick-or-Treat night, WNA volunteers will be out at Crescent Park handing out treats (no tricks—we promise!) to all the costumed creatures wandering through the neighborhood. Stop by for some sweets and spooky smiles!
Heads up! Halloween is on a Friday this year, but Trick-or-Treat will be on Thursday, October 30. Long-time residents know Halloween is a BIG deal in Westgate—some houses see hundreds of trick-or-treaters! If you’re new to the neighborhood, check with your neighbors about candy quantities. Consider teaming up to create a treat station or even a mini block party. The more, the spookier!
So grab your costumes, stock up on candy, and let’s make this October frightfully fun. See you out there, Westgate!
